The stockbreeders and the people who are professionally involved in breeding and taking care of the cattle are diseased.

Prilep - Kanatlarci, Dupjacani, Nebregovo Debreste, Vitoliste and Prilep are the hotbed of this disease again this year. 14 people are registered with this disease.

“The stockbreeders and the people who are professionally involved in breeding and taking care of the cattle are diseased. The number people who are infected by consuming the cheese and products from not pasteurised milk, is significantly smaller. People are already educated how the disease is been transmitted and how to protect themselves.” Dr Tatjana Murgoska-Stanimirovic explains an epidemiologist in the Prilep’s Health protection institution.

The veterinarians are working on site every day. Besides taking blood samples from the cattle for analysis for brucellosis, they are also vaccinating the lambs left for breeding. 350 cows and sheep are discovered till now carrying this disease.

Brucellosis is discovered in three villages. Those are old hotbeds actually. But the action continues. The plan is to test the blood of all 65000 sheep and goats in Prilep region and also the municipality of Dolneni and Krivogastani. After this is done we will have a complete insight of the brucellosis” says Blagojce Hristovski, the director of the Veterinarian Centre.

The experts say that in order to exterminate the disease all institutions in charge should be synchronized in their actions. The veterinarians are optimists and say that with realizing the three year program will stop the brucellosis in the next six years in the Prilep region.

“According to the program all cattle for breeding should be vaccinated. This way every year 15-20% of the offspring will be protected. In a period of six years there will be a generation protected from brucellosis”prognoses Hristovski.

The statistical data show decrease in the number of diseased people. This Is evident in the last five years.
